Children’s Ministries
Every person is important at First Christian Church, no matter how small, and children are welcome and encouraged at every ministry of the church, from worship and education to study and mission. In addition to our regular work, though, we also work to provide a wide array of opportunities for children of all ages.
Loving and caring leaders provide a space for our children to play, imagine, and wonder. Children can meet God doing a craft, in the warm smile of a storyteller, or singing Jesus Loves Me around a circle of friends.
Our child protection policy ensures that your child will experience church in a safe way. All leaders work together to create games, children’s chats, and bible lessons that are age appropriate and fun!
Kids’ Group: Kids’ Group meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30. Join us at 6:00 for a family dinner. During Kids’ Group, kids will hear stories, ask and answer questions, do crafts, play games and experience the word of God.
Children’s Worship and Wonder: Children’s Worship and Wonder is a worship-centered approach to the faith formation of small children. Children aged 4 to 2nd grade are invited to leave worship service after the Children’s Chat and worship with others their own age. The program uses Montessori principles to introduce children to the essentials of worship: prayer, Bible study, music, reflection and communion. Parents are invited to come and observe at any time.
Vacation Bible School: Once a year, we host a Vacation Bible School designed to engage students in new and fun ways. Students aged 2 through 5th grade are invited join us for food, fellowship, fun and study.
Special Events (Easter Egg Hunts, Fall Festivals, Advent Nights): Our special events are designed to be inclusive of the whole family. From concerts to craft nights; missions to meals, we hope you’ll check out our calendar of events for family opportunities.
Camp: Beginning in the first grade, kids and youth have the opportunity to be a part of the Camp Wakon’Da-Ho family. Camp Wakon’Da-Ho is a ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Kentucky.
