On Sunday, February 23, we’ll have a special breakfast in the fellowship hall at 9:30 a.m. Erin Wathen, Associate Director of Marketing and Communication for Week of Compassion, will be our guest speaker that morning for the breakfast and in worship. We will collect our annual Week of Compassion offering during the service February 23.  More details available in the Keynoter and Weekly Connection

AS part of the Disciples Fair Trade Project, Equal Exchange organic fair trade coffee will be available for puchase on Sunday mornings during February, both before and after worship. Elder Ordination

First Christian Church 112 East College Street, Georgetown, KY, United States

In our congregation, elders are called to give care and guidance, preside at the communion table, be a guiding voice in the collective process of forming the church’s vision, serve in leadership positions and support the entire congregation through encouragement, presence, and prayer. In our congregation, elders are called to serve two-year terms. It is a common practice in a majority of congregations in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to ordain those serving in the role of Elder. Previously, First Christian Church has installed its elders along with other congregational leadership, but has not officially ordained them. This year, we begin the practice of ordaining our elders as an affirmation of their call to serve in this unique role. It is our intention in future years to ordain those who are called to serve as active elders, including those who may have served as elder previously, but have not been ordained in the past. We’ll ordain our current elders as part of worship on Sunday, March 8.
